Our inspectors take pride in being considered some of the best in the business.  Most have previous experience in the building trades.  All are certified or have passed their certification exams from ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors), CABO (Council of American Building Officials), GAHI (Georgia Association of Home Inspectors) or a combination of those three.  All have undergone significant training and go through refresher training each year.  And most importantly, all consider your home inspection the most important one they've ever done.  Biographies of our inspectors are presented below; to view the bio for a specific inspector, select from the drop-down box below and click "View".


Ken Drinkwalter

Ken has certifications from both ASHI and CABO. He joined House Smart in 1991.  Prior to joining House Smart, Ken had more than 20 years of commercial construction experience as a field superintendent.  He was also a licensed home builder in the stat of South Carolina.  Ken has an Associate's degree in Building Construction from ECTI - Buffalo.

Keith Cook

Keith is certified by ASHI, CABO and GAHI and started with House Smart in 1996.  Before joining House Smart, Keith spent 12 years as an architect.  He has a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and is a registered architect in the state of Georgia.

John Lampp

John has his certifications from both ASHI and CABO.  He joined House Smart in 1998.  Before starting with House Smart, John spent 20 years as an industrial quality inspector.  He also has a Bachelor's degree in Biology.

Dan Wyatt

Dan has certifications from ASHI, GAHI, CABO, and ICC.  He is certified for new construction by the ICC as member 5187267-R5.  Dan has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.  He has completed over 2,600 inspections with House Smart since 1999.  Prior to joining House Smart, Dan was an engineer with AT &T.  As part of his responsibilities with AT &T, he led quality improvement teams that addressed day to day quality and process problems.

Murl Huskey

Murl is both ASHI and CABO certified.  Before joining House Smart in 1999, Murl owned a construction company in Florida for 20 years.  He also has experience in pool construction.

Jeff Camp

Jeff is a member of ASHI (#20567) and GAHI.  He is also One and Two Dwelling CABO certified (#2954)..  He started with House Smart in March of 2000 after spending six years doing home rehabilitation work and a year at another home inspection company.  Jeff is a graduate of the National Home Inspection School and attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut.

Tom Balai

Tom has more than twelve years combined experience in the construction industry and the inspection business.  He is both ICC (formerly CABO) certified (#5137481) ICC and a member of ASHI (#205936).  Prior to joining House Smart, Tom was a construction manager and a home builder.

Darin Bruck

Darin Bruck is CABO One and Two Family Dwellings Certified and ICC Certified.  Darin has completed over 1000 inspections since February, 2002.  Darin is also an instructor with House Smart's school for continuing education, House Smart Learning Center.  His previous experience includes work with foundation and framing construction and 2 years of experience as the Department Head of the plumbing, kitchen and kitchen design departments at Home Depot.  Darin also has seven years of experience as a Corporate Trainer with IMS.

Justin Erdman

Justin lives in the Stone Mountain area and graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Business Administration and Psychology.  Justin has been educated in home inspections through GAHI and is CABO certified as a one and two family dwelling inspector through SBCCI.  Justin joined House Smart in 2001.

Joe Peterka

.Joe is ICC (Formerly CABO) certified (#5147679) and is a member of the Southern Building Code Congress International (#41311).  Joe has had 15 years experience at Home Depot and has worked as a manager in flooring, paint and millwork. He has 20 years of carpentry experience and has built 3 houses through Gwinnett Technical college.  He spent 4 years in the Navy as a jet mechanic.  Joe owned his own inspection business for a year prior to joining House Smart in 2002.

Matt Koch

Matt is CABO certified (#4930) and is a trained CIE (Certified Indoor Environmentalist, #00948) by the Indoor Air Quality Association. Prior to joining House Smart, Matt performed Moisture Intrusion and IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) inspections. He has 8 years experience remodeling homes in Georgia and Michigan.

Keith Markle

Keith Markle is ICC Certified in Commercial and Residential inspections. Keith’s previous experience includes 5 years in commercial remodeling and 5 ½ years holding the dual roles of Director of Quality Control and Production Technician for a building automation company. He is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 6 years of service in the National Guard.

Charles Matt

Charles Matt has spent almost his entire working life in the construction industry; beginning, in1961, as a journeyman electrician in the IBEW and holding an electrical contractors' license in Illinois.  In 1976, he began his most recent career as an electrical/building inspecto r. After 28 years, he retired as a CABO/ICC Certified Building Official(CBO).  He is a BOCA/ICC member since 1978 and a CBO since 1990.  He has personally completed or supervised thousands of building code inspections over the last 28 years.

Mo Ghazi

Mo Ghazi is an ICC certified inspector (#5240508) and ASHI candidate (#246715).  He is also certified by Moisture Warranty Corporation to complete stucco inspections.  Mo is certified in EPA Site Assessment and Inspection as well as OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).  Prior to joining House Smart in 2006, Mo had five years experience performing home inspections, waterproofing and writing estimates.  He also holds PhD in geology and chemistry and has extensive laboratory and teaching experience in environmental forensics including indoor air quality, lead, asbestos and radon.

Chuck Turner

Chuck has more than 16 years experience in the construction and home remodeling business. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in American History. He is ICC Code certified and an ASI candidate member. He joined HouseSmart in 2005 as the Radon Services Manager. He is also a graduate of the National Home Inspection Institute.
